  Dr. Batniji is double-board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is a surgical specialty that includes the surgical subspecialty of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

  This dual certification means that Dr. Batniji is uniquely qualified to perform both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the head and neck, from cosmetic procedures like rhinoplasty and facelift surgery to reconstructive procedures like cancer reconstruction and scar revision.

Board certification is awarded only to surgeons who have met minimum competency requirements related to their training and experience.

  American Board Of Otolaryngology (Aboto)

  The American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOto) is committed to ensuring that diplomats who are ABOto certified have met the ABOto’s professional standards of knowledge and training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. For certification by the ABOto, surgeons must graduate from college and medical school, complete a five-year residency program in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and successfully pass both oral and written certification examinations. Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is a subspecialty within Otolaryngology.

  American Board Of Facial Plastic And Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS)

  The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) was established in 1986 and is “dedicated to improving the quality of facial plastic surgery available to the public by measuring the qualifications of candidate surgeons against certain rigorous standards.”

  For certification by the ABFPRS, surgeons must complete an approved residency program in one of two surgical specialties, typically either Otolaryngology (surgical specialty which focuses upon the face, head, and neck) or general Plastic Surgery; have earned previous certification in that specialty; have successfully passed a two-day exam (both written and oral); have submitted a minimum of 100 facial plastic surgical procedures and a record of at least two years of clinical experience for peer review; and hold proper licensure and subscribe to the ABFPRS Code of Ethics.

As the son of an Otolaryngologist, Dr. Rami K. Batniji was exposed to a career in medicine at a very young age. While at Williams College, Dr. Batniji completed his premedical courses but also used his time in college to major in History and study other areas of interest, such as Art History, and play baseball at the collegiate level. During medical school and Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery residency, Dr. Batniji was drawn to facial plastic surgery because it is such meticulous work and requires careful attention to detail. It’s the perfect blend of his childhood passions for science and art. In terms of a career choice, facial plastic surgery enables him to help individuals ‘reconstruct’ areas of their face that have been affected by trauma or serious illness as well as provide options for people who would like to make aesthetic changes for more personal reasons (e.g. corrective surgery, youthful look).

Dr. Batniji is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology. He limits his practice exclusively to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. The most common surgical procedures Dr. Batniji performs include rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, facelift, necklift, and blepharoplasty. As well, he performs reconstructive surgery, including skin cancer reconstruction, laceration repairs, and facial fracture repairs.
